How we verify listings
Every listing on Best Dog Friendly shows a badge that says how we know the place welcomes dogs, plus the sources behind it. Here is what each badge means.
Permit verified
In Maricopa County, a restaurant needs a Dog Friendly Patio Permit from the county before pet dogs can join you on its patio. Pima County has a similar pet-friendly patio permit. When a listing says Permit verified, we matched it to a current county permit record.
Owner confirmed
The owner or a manager confirmed their dog policy with us directly: where dogs can go, any size limits, and what they offer dogs.
Community tip
A local dog owner told us about the place. We show it so you can find it, and we work on confirming it.
Not yet verified
We found the place in public sources, such as an older county permit list or a published roundup, and checked with Google that it is still open. We have not confirmed the dog policy yet, so please call ahead.
Keeping it current
We recheck each listing’s hours and open-or-closed status with Google at least every 30 days. Places that close come off the site. When something changes, the listing shows the new date.
